I just upgraded my alpine decks (from 7863 to a 9856) and had all the same wiring set up for both decks....the CDA-9856 (great deck) used it for a few days....and then all of a sudden (when you put the face in) it doesn't work anymore....when you flip the face down (as if you were going to place a cd in it) the actual led for the eject button blinks off and on as if some type of alarm for the unit was armed.....anybody have any suggestions on this?

Did you buy the deck new or used ? Sounds like an internal problem with the head unit. If it were a wiring issue you would not have gotten the 3 good daays out of it.You could try cleaning the pins where the face makes connection with the deck, but its a longshot.....sounds like you need to bring it back aand ask for a refund....sorry = (
