Like the title says, I would like to try and use the factory ford sync mic that is located in the rear view mirror for my pioneer 80prs blue tooth.
According to the schematic for the fusion, the mic is wire directly to the radio harness.
Has anyone tried this with good results?

let me answer my own question.
Short answer is yes.
Spent a couple hours tracking down the mic wires in the fusion.
The Sync module is located on the back side of the center console.

The easiest place to get the wires in the fusion is by removing the top of the center console and the harness running down the passenger side of the console you will find a YELLOW /GREEN(+) & Blue(-)wire paired with tape in the big connector. You can test the wires with continuity with the connector on the back of the rear view mirror Pin 4 & 5.
For the mic to work the ACC or IGN needs to be on.   Apparently there is a pre-amp in the rear view mirror. Testing the mic with my RTA the factory mic has a strong signal. The Pioneer mic has a very low level which must be pre-amped inside the 80prs.
This is why I did not use the ford mic in the end. I was afraid the high level from the sync mic would overload or even worse damage my 80prs. So I did all this work for nothing.
I will tell you that the ford sync has waaaaaaay better blue tooth talk quality for my side and the person on the other phone. Its a night and day difference.
