I have 2 alpine type s 12s, and I have them wired to 2 ohms.
I have a 300 watt mtx thunder, tc3001 2 channel, bridgeable amplifier.
Here's what I've tried. I've tried wiring one speaker at 4 ohms, to a single channel on the amplifier, the only thing that happens is it emits a bump ever 3 or 4 seconds.
So I figured, maybe it doesn't like the 4ohm, so I wired both the subs to 2 ohms, and bridged them on the amp. Same thing happens, a bump every 3 or 4 seconds.
So I thought maybe the amp isn't supplying enough power, so I tested the pos and neg terminals going into the amplifier, I was getting 9 volts, so I turned the car on, and it went up to 12.4 volts, but the same thing was happening, a bump every 3 or 4 seconds.
So I turned the car off, and then unhooked everything for the day, and noticed the amp was fairly hot. Not untouchable, but it was still hot, I tried taking out the 30 amp fuse in the amp and it was pretty hot as well. Inspected the fuse and it had some burn marks on it, not sure if it was from the amp or not.
Either way, I'm looking for input, and thoughts, thank you

Turn the amp gain all the way down, then read the "how to" in the Hot Topics forum, and set your gain properly.  See if that helps.

Where is it grounded in the car? Also sounds like you may need to look into your electrical system. 12.4 after starting the car is not very good.

Your amplifier has shorted output transistors. Get it repaired or get a new amp.
