i have a 96 isszu bighorn i have taken out car stero and it has 2 seperate antenna conections what would the second be for

The second antenna is for the second tuner inside the radio. Some radios have FM Diversity systems. There are 2 separate tuners, the one with the strongest signal is the one that gets to the audio system.
Just connect one of them and call it a day. Some vehicles have a larger plug on the primary antenna and a smaller one on the secondary antenna.

thank u for your infomation i have used the larger connection but dont seem to be able to pick up am signal

Back in the 1950s or so, they came out with FM, because they figured out that AM did not work all that good.
