Hello to All:   Recently acquired a 2004 Montero limited with Infinity 315 w. 7 speaker system & VES(DvD,Mp3 disc, aux a/v inputs). what was required to integrate the VES from the factory was the omission of the sun roof & the 6 disc changer which were standard with an unconverted Infinity system. I can live without the sun roof(too hot anyway in AZ.) but I really would like to add a 6 disc changer by relocating the DVD player that now occupies the lower DIN where the changer should?would have been. I have purchased another Infinity HU with the cd changer & DIN cable. Checking out the wiring diagrams that I 've been able to find all Monteros between 2003 -2006 with Infinity Amp have a Din output for a changer. So I went to my local 12volt guy & said what about it? He said there are too many variables at play , can't be done.  So I'am asking you guys , why not.? My existing HU already outputs to the DVD player, all I want to do is add a changer into the mix, and relocate the dvd player to a vertical mount on the passenger side center console.

well i wouldn't be so quick to say that it isnt totally possible without first checking things out BUT normally it is not possible to interchange parts from different tier factory systems. the reason being that the wiring is different throughout the car and without tracing all of the wiring and comparing what you are installing with what you are replacing then you cant be sure that the equipment wont fry as soon as you plug it in. it may look the same but theres no guarantee that every pin inside that DIN plug is exactly the same. theres just a lot of variables to check out unless you are brave enough to just plug everything in and hope fore the best but no shop will want to assume that risk.

Okay but check this out . All the components I am referring to came out on the 2004 Montero. I believe the reason the 6 disc changer was nixed for the DVD player was soley logistics, nothing more. For the same reason the sunroof was deleted to accomodate the drop down 7" TFT display unit: SPACE. Heres what I have. A MN141490 (u091) HU Outputing to a MN141292 DVD player, that occupies the din that the changer originally filled. Heres what I WANT to have. same as mentioned ___but___ the dvd moved to the passenger side center console , still cabled to the HU. and (here comes the trick part) a MN141331 6 disc changer installed in the DIN vacated by the DVD player. DIN pin out on my HU is same as the one that came with the changer. They are a match and I've got the HU to changer cable. Wow, I'm done.

ok well it seems like you have it all figured out, i was just telling you the risks associated with trying to frankenstein a factory system. just because it came from another 04 montero doesnt make it the same, although it probably is, OEM manufactures do mean spirited things like change over one or two pins in a plug or cable just to keep you from doing this type of thing and make you have to go buy the original piece from the dealer. i guess the only way to see is to plug it up and hope it doesnt fry your system.
