subwoofer pulsing

I just wanted to get some ideas. I put a sub and amp in a 2013 Dodge Dart. This issue I'm have is that the subs pulsates and hums after the vehicle has been shut off. I put in a PAC SOEMT LOC, a soundstream Picasso P1.1000d, and a 2ohm Kicker L3 in a Kicker ported box. The LOC is in the factory default position with the gains at max level and the amp has the gain level is at about 1/3 of its max level. Is this a signal issue with the gains out of whack or is there a issue with the LOC and the audio sensing remote output?I drink current, eat ohms, and bleed voltage

It is most likely a gain level issue, but it could also be a grounding issue. First set the gain properly because right now it's not. Check the "Hot Topics" forum for instructions.Support the12volt.com

I figured it was a gain issue but the ground is screwed to bare metal on the vehicle chassis and bolted down. I'm fully aware of how to tune a amp with a O-scope if you are doing a full amplified system by playing a CD with test tones? I thought you can't use a O-scope and a test tone CD when you are adding a sub to a factory system because the 40hz test tone damages the mids and highs. Because of this I'm playing kind of a guessing game with my ear. Can you use a test CD with a sub on a factory system safely or should I tinker with the gains until I eliminate the noise problem? FYI i've done several hundred of these installs and have had at most two or three issues like this. I was just kind of looking for some insight on this problem and a more exact way to set the gain besides doing it by ear and running into this issue again.I drink current, eat ohms, and bleed voltage

Setting a gain by ear is actually a preferred method. Use a 60Hz tone and no, it won't damage the mains. Set the gain on the LOC first with the sub amp gain at minimum before you set the amplifier gain. Wear hearing protection.Support the12volt.com

Open the trunk. Do you still have the problem? If not, tag the front speaker wires instead of the rear.
