Bought this car at auctio and the original factory stereo is damaged and cd changer is gone. I picked up a jvc in dash dvd/stereo but car audio store does not have a wiring harness for my car. Does anyone have any tips or a wiring diagram I could follow to help with the install.
audio shop told me they prefer to stay away from mercedes installs due to "complications"..

Can you take pictures of the wiring harness in the radio opening? Is there an antenna jack in the opening? Have you looked in the Mercedes forums to see if there is a factory amplifier?

that benz might be a fiber optic data system sending the audio signal to the factory amp. if this is the case then i think the only way to change anything is to change everything, radio, amp, speakers, everything. unless there is now an integration harness that adapts to the fiber optic network, but this adapter will likely cost several hundred dollars by itself.

If it is a fiber optic system, you can leave the speakers in but you will have to build a crossover network. If the car has a 2 way setup, we charge 150 dollars labor to do that bypass. 3 way setup yields a 200 dollar pricetag. Plus labor to install the deck.
