Hello ever body (the new guy here1993 Subaru Impreza 4 door wagon, speaker overhall -- posted image.). I just started working on my car?s sound system. Back in December ?2001" I bought a (?new?) black 1993 Subaru Impreza 4-Door Station Wagon.
With that being said, just this month I have started working on replacing the old factory speakers. Mostly because these nine year old ?paper speakers? can?t hold a candle to even the cheapest of today's after market speakers1993 Subaru Impreza 4 door wagon, speaker overhall -- posted image., and the fact one of the back speakers is ripped only aids in my choice in replacing them. (Cool, new speakers!) So I went to Best Buy, Circuit City, Sears and two local car audio shops. I must have listened to 25 different speaker modles, from as many makers1993 Subaru Impreza 4 door wagon, speaker overhall -- posted image. (with my own CDs)
And what I seemed to like best for the kind of music I listen to (Heavy Metal and some Alternative) were the Sony ?Xplod?speaker family. My car uses 6-1/2 inch speakers and that?s what I?m going to use. I?m not one for over doing a car?s interior. I found a great place to buy the speakers from on the internet, ?etronics.com? (no, this is not a spam) I payed $60.00 per pare and $12.00 shipping that?s all. So I bought two sets1993 Subaru Impreza 4 door wagon, speaker overhall -- posted image., seeing how they will fit both in the back and in the front doors. The speakers in question are the Sony ?XS-V1632"s. The prices I would have had to pay at the five stores I went too where from $99.95 to $110.99 per set. (They should be in by the 25th of this month.
As far as the stereo goes it?s a after market cassette deck. It will have to do until I can save up 1993 Subaru Impreza 4 door wagon, speaker overhall -- posted image.. I am hoping to get the ? Sony CDX-MP70
CD/MP3 Receiver? {R.M.S.} 23 X 4 watts and a peek of 50 watts (not too bad.) Right now the cassette is running at about {R.M.S.} of 12 X 4 watts and 35 X 4 peek. I know this because the guy that I got the car from told me he installed it went the factory radio went out, and I have be manual that goes to the stereo.
?Now for my questions now that you?ll have the back story.?
#1 does anyone have an Impreza like mine?
#2 If so, what have you done to your Impreza ?
#3 How do I replace the factory speakers?
#4 Is it going to hurt my new speakers using such a low watt stereo (the cassette deck) or will it make any real difference to the speakers?
#5 Is it just a simple case of popping out the old one's and sticking in the new one's, or is there more too it?1993 Subaru Impreza 4 door wagon, speaker overhall -- posted image.
#6 Are there any books that cover just this type of thing?
# 7 What do you think of my choice in speakers and a future stereo/CD player?
#8 Has any one gotten into this new satellite radio yet?
#9 Have I board any one yet?
#10 Do Sony CD players hold up or do they break a lot?
#11 If not a Sony CD player then what should I be looking for?
#12 I know there is more I should ask but I can?t come up with any thing else.
So I guess that's it. (For Now Any Way)
     Later,and thanks
Note: this is a respotting of a letter I wrote for one of the Yahoo car groups.
May God give you the best, and keep you safe at all times.
Later Morrow

Look for all possible screws and bolts that hold this door panel together to the door. There will be plastic clips that hold the door panel to the door after all the screws are taken out, so you will need a screw driver or a fork pry to get these off ( or plain ol force will work too )

#4 Is it going to hurt my new speakers using such a low watt stereo (the cassette deck) or will it make any real difference to the speakers?

You do not want to be under powering your speakers for too long or you will damage them over time

#5 Is it just a simple case of popping out the old one's and sticking in the new one's, or is there more too it?1993 Subaru Impreza 4 door wagon, speaker overhall -- posted image.

You may have to solder the new speaker connection to the factory wire if the Impreza came with clips that are not compatible with the new speakers.

#6 Are there any books that cover just this type of thing?

Yes, ther are books out on the internet at Amazon.com and Chapters. I don't think that you would need to read a book in order to change your speakers though.

# 7 What do you think of my choice in speakers and a future stereo/CD player?

Most brands out on the market are good but stick to brand name units for warranty sake and also longevity of the equipment. If all you can afford is mid end speakers and a deck, then that's good enough. Your not competing so high end equipment is useless.

#8 Has any one gotten into this new satellite radio yet?

No, we can not get this yet because it's only the USA that receives it.

#9 Have I board any one yet?

This is a long post, but it's all good 1993 Subaru Impreza 4 door wagon, speaker overhall -- posted image.

#10 Do Sony CD players hold up or do they break a lot?

This is a very wide open question. Everyone has their own opinions on this type of question and is very biased. I do not install Sony unless a customer brings it to me, but they are very easy to install and I have not had any problems with them myself

#11 If not a Sony CD player then what should I be looking for?

Whatever is in your price range and also whatever catches your eye as far as looks and functions.

#12 I know there is more I should ask but I can?t come up with any thing else.
So I guess that's it. (For Now Any Way)
