I want to replace my 6X9's and have narrowed it down to 2 choices.

1. Kenwood's KFC 6999ie http://kenwoodusa.com/product/product.jsp?productTypeId=43&sortBy=price&pageId=2&productid=2508

or

2. Alpine's  SPR694A  http://www.alpine-usa.com/html/D2_n_1_n_n.html

Could anyone let me know what they think or maybe have some other suggestions?

Thanks

Very Simple:94 Chevy Silverado ext cab with, kdc322 head unit, kdcc719 disc changer, kenwood x689 excelon 3way 6x9's in rear, alpine 4x6 2way in dash, mtx thunderform sub under rear seat.

Excuse me while I drool.  Those type R's are phenomenal.  I like both of those models that you threw out, but I personally think those Alpines will smack the Kenwoods.  I take it by your signature you're replacing the Pioneers, in which case either speaker will be an improvement.  But I vote Alpine in this case, they did everything right with the Type R series.

I am looking for alittle more highs.  would I achieve that with the Alpines or the kenwoods?

I checked out the MB Quart line.  They sounded good but I didn't like the place they were be sold at.  So I went to a place out here in AZ. Ultimate Electronics and they had Kenwood Excelons X698's on close out sale for 150.00.  They gave me the sound I wanted to add to my truck.  Thanks for the input.

i know this has nothing to do with what you asked and this is just a comment not a suggestion. i remember way back in 1983 you didn't have sh*t unless you had some Jenson triaxls. 3 way 6x9's. I know they arn't that good today ,but back in the day they were the sh*t. lol6X9 replacements? -- posted image.
