Does anyone have any experience with either of these components? I currently have the M500 running 2 Dual 2 ohm Type R 12's, and the amp isn't set up at all....just out of the box. The way I have the amp mounted the controls are kind of difficult to get at, so I'm considerign the 4280 to move the controls to the passenger compartment of my vehicle. The M500 and the M300 amps are packed with crazy features I've never seen on sub amps. Do they really make a differece? Basically what I'm asking is, is the 4280 really worth it or will being able to fine tune the bass engine functions and modes really make a difference in performance?

What kind of head unit do you have?  And how is the M500 getting its RCA signal input?  Finally, how often do you like to adjust the bass/treble levels (some people like to change it according to what type of music they're listening to, etc.)?

The M500 and M300 from Alpine are amazing amps...  I wouldn't put anything else in your car if your running those 12" Type R's... The M500 has probably one of the most quiet turn on's in the world.  The power that it delivers is 500 RMS and that's without it even trying.  just bring out the manual and figure out how to use the buttons its actually quite easy to do but I would make it so you have the idependant control of your subs at your deck.  Definately keep those amps they are amazing.  Alpine even put two M500 to each voice coil for their 5.1 Digital Surrround setup in one of their magazines.  It was crazy.  But for mounting purposes those amps were made to be seen plus the flip up display is pimp.  Definately take the time to understand the features
