Wiring Harness 87 Nissan

When purchasing a wiring harness for a head unit for my 1987 Nissan Pulsar do I have to look out for guage measurments, or is that only on amp/speakers connections.R.Troy

No the harness only comes in one gauge. When hooking up amps which are high current then cable size matters

bberman, when he says "gauge," he's referring to using a multimeter, not to the thickness of the wires. troy, the instructions will always say that it's your job to verify all the wires by testing them---that's mainly to protect themselves from liability should something go wrong. Once in a while (but rarely), the harness manufacturer will put the wires in the wrong locations by accident. But it isn't common. If you are a new installer, it might be good practice for you verify all the wires just as a learning experience, but it should not be necessary. Also, the wiring adapter you buy will have a ground wire in it, but almost never does Nissan actually put a ground wire in their side of the harness. But don't worry. If you are using the factory metal brackets to mount your new radio, that will serve as ground (just like it did with the factory unit). On the other hand, if you're using a plastic mounting kit, ground the radio's black wire to one of the mounting screws that held the factory radio in place.
