I've been looking everywhere trying to find someone to help me with this problem. I've got a 1982 Chevrolet Malibu Classic that I'm trying to put a Pioneer cd player in. I've got all of my wire clips and everything I need, but I don't know which wires go where. I don't have a wiring diagram for the car or the cd player, so I'm just about hopeless I suppose. I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on my situation. Many people have suggested that I get it done professionally but I want to learn how, and I have no extra money to pay for it :)

God Bless.

When you say you have the clips are you referring to the wiring harness kit?

No, I don't have a harness kit yet, but I need to know what each wire in the car represents. I have the wiring diagram for the cd player now.

he's talkin connectors...there is a trick for the speakers....get a battery and once you connect it it'll make static..also usually the neg and pos of a speaker is the same base color.   that is unless you arent running your own speaker wires.

the constant and acc can be found with one of those light screwdriver things-dont know correct name.

but ground it then go thru the wires...then turn the igniton to acc. and go thru to find the acc.

IF it has a harness dont bother...get a plugin for it and they supply which wire is what.

I need quality equipment, feel free to donate.

Here is a diagram for your car, I don’t know the accuracy so be sure and double check before hooking up the power and speakers. https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/detail.asp?info=alarm&year=1978-85&make=Chevrolet&model=Malibu&ID=17436&type=Stereo But instead of cutting the wires I would suggest that you purchase the wiring kit. The kit will plug into your cars harness and then give you all the color coded connections to hook into the new aftermarket radio.
