not familiar with '01's pontiacs but i believe with gm cars behind teh stock radio theres a harness which you can actually make an educated geuss. power wires....pwr, gd, and remote lead all 3should be all together in the section of the harness. cancle out the yellow...the other two...simple splice NOT CUT the gd and remote lead and use a digital multimeter on either one.....the one that gets a reading is it....just an idea

hope that helps......  i had same exact problem man with my lumina..figuring which wires were which

good luck with it

Pretty sure this vehicle uses class II wiring, and assuming that's the case, there will not be a switched power wire in the radio's harness.  This is because the stock radio does not even use a +12v signal to know when to turn on; instead, it relies on data signals sent over the Class II data wire.

To get a switched power wire for use with aftermarket equipment (head unit and/or amplifier) you have to tap into the ignition harness.

Hey, I've been asking around and someone said you could just wire it into a switched +12v from the cigarette lighter, for example.
