Alright, any most any other car now adays it's pretty simple to deck out the old "stock" deck and replace it with a really nice new one. This is NOT the case for the jelly bean versions of the Taurus. It has it's oh so annoying round deck, which also has all the environmental controls built into it. This makes it extreme difficult and annoying to change anything stereo in this car. I was wonder if ANYONE knew how to install a nice standard size Kenwood 619 into a 1999 Taurus LX. I would appreciate ANY advice, except advice like "get a different car."

Thanks

Metra sells a dash kit and harness to replace the stock radio(you have to transpose the HVAC and defroster controls) and run wires and an antenna extension from the trunk(factory amp). You also have to slightly modify the dash opening to get the kit to fit properly. . . what a pain in the. . .anyway it's about all you can do. The dash kit will likely run you $80 or more.
Have fun!

make sure you have the right kit!!! There is 2 available for your car. The Metra part # should end in 16 not 15D. I just did one today and we had this problem

Yea, I got the 16, should work perfectly once I GET it. Most likely the item i lost the bid on ebay was stolen anyway so i'm gald i ended up buying it new. But yes, ends in 16, if you have a taurus, and you don't like the crazy stock set up, get it, lol.

The amp for the car is at the driver side quater panel. Also don't forget to replace the radios fuse to at least a 7.5 amp.
