What sort of system you running. I assume it can't be all the powerful if you've only got a 40amp inline fuse. It sounds to me like you need a new battery. You should also look into getting the alternator checked as well cause this could be the source of your problem.

What is the fuse rating on your amp? And i think ketel has a pretty good point cause one of my mates had a similar problem. Turned out to the battery and his sub. Basically if your system has been running fine for a yr, just think if anything has changed. But you should see if you can test your subs on another amp or in someone elses car.

Putting in a second battery would put more of a strain on your alternator as it needs to charge both batteries. So i suggest go get your alternator checked. Also there is more involved in hooking up a second battery you can't just straight connect it too the other!

Does the voltage drop when the car is idling or while driving.  One quick way to check your alternator is to disconnect the ground wire while the car is running.  If the car kills the alternator is probably weak.  (a car runs using the alternator and battery.  The battery can not run the car alone but the alternator can.)  If your voltage drops only when your car is idling you need to rebuild or upgrade your alternator to a high-output one.  Also, you might want to upgrade your fuse.  A 1000 want amp normally draws close to 90 amps.
