Hi guys, anybody knows where is the CD Changer connection in the 97 Explorer Sport? It's not int the back of the radio

Normally the sport model doesn't come with a changer. Are you trying to install a changer from another explorer?

thanks for your answer. This is a 97 Explorer, with a CD Changer capable radio, and I've got my old Audiovox Changer from my 94. Its a DIN changer so I suspect I'll need some sort of adapter. But there is no plug for the CD changer in the back of the radio and the wires that came out just get into the panel. I knpw that in the 98 model the conector is in the central panel but I haven't found it here.

Ok, in that case there might be a "tuner module" that's located behind the right rear interior panel ( you have to take all of that off). You migth also need an interface adapter that plugs into the "tuner module" and you then plug your changer cable into that. Audiovox makes adapters for that type of setup.

I install a lot of Audivox changers, using the special Audiovox cables that allow them to connect to Ford radios.

The adapter harness you need will look like a sort of "T" harness; it daisy-chains in between the radio and the factory wiring.

So that's why you don't see any spare plugs back there. When you get the proper adapter, you first unplug the factory radio....then plug one end of the adapter into the back of the radio.....the other end of the adapter into the car's wiring....and then the adapter also has a DIN cord that goes to the changer.

I'm sorry I can't remember the part numbers for those cables right now; there are a few of them.
