just got a visonik V800HC, and for competition i want to run it @1ohm bridged(its 1ohm stable), which is 2800 watts. I've got a 220amp alternator, what kind of charging system setup would i need so it won't slip into protection. any suggestions? these things slip into protection with a voltage drop @1ohm, what kind of battery setup would i need to keep the power stable?

Your amp alone will draw about 218 amps at max volume. But with your current charging system it should not be going into protection mode. I’m not saying that their is not a strain on your charging system. But what subs do you have and how do you have them wired? Has it ever worked correctly?

please tell me the wires from your alternator are at least 4 guage!! you should have 1/0 guage for that alternator. Run a new 1/0 guage wire from your alt. positive to your battery positive, and a 1/0 guage ground from the alt. to the frame. And you will need either 2, 4 guage wires, or a single 1/0- or 2 guage wire from your battery to your amp.

i haven't put the alternator on yet, and i already have the 1/0 gauge wire for it. I'm gonna go with an isolator and but two deep cycle batteries in back.

the setup is one visonik D2 15 wired in parallell for a 1ohm load for competition, daily driving it will be at 4ohms

The 2nd and 3rd batteries will only help you out if you plan on using it with the engine off. If you plan on using your radio the majority of the time with the engine on, then I would just suggest that you replace your current battery with a deep cycle. But if you want to compete off the batteries alone with the car off you’re going to need allot more then 2 extra. As far as going from 1 to for ohms for daily driving it gets to be a pain. I would get a PAC LC-1 instead http://www.pac-audio.com/products/lc.htm so you can adjust things on the go.
