The six disc CD changer in my truck says "no d j" when I try to turn the radio to CD mode.  It's never said that before and I've asked around- no one has ever heard of this.  We just bought this truck a few months ago, so i don't have a owner's manual.  I found a possible model number on the back of  the magazine:  F57F-18C833-AB.  The CD player says compact disc digital audio on the front and has "Ford" printed on it, so I think it's the stereo that came with the truck.  Does anyone know what this means and have any ideas on what to do first?

Hey. There are two common error messages you get with those changers..One will say NO DJ and the other says NOCDDJ or something like that..I think one means no magazine and the other means no changer period..You might want to try unplugging your cd changer and plugging it back in. (Make sure the car is off while you unplug it or it won't recognize it) Almost just like resetting it basically..Other than that the changer should plug into the back of the radio and have a cord that plugs right into the changer not a whole lot of troubleshooting you can do aside from making sure both sides are plugged in and go from there. Also we install Ford changers all the time so it doesn't necessarily mean it came that way from the factory. If the back of the radio just has your normal plugs then it is probably factory. If you see the normal plugs and then other plugs a little farther back then it is not factory because those plugs interupt the factory plugs to give power etc to the changer. (Yet everything still plugs in you won't see any loose wires or things tapped in etc...) Either way give it a try and see what happens..Also make sure the sliders on the side are both set to the same (horizontal or vertical) depending on your install. If it's an older unit it will have one slider on the side and one on the top where the newer ones have them one on each side. These can't really change themselves just something to double check who knows..That about covers it if all your connections look good it might have to be replaced..Good luck,
Mike
