4runner aftermarket amp to stock deck

I am installing an aftermarket amp to the stock deck. I attached an rca converter from the speaker wires.... here's my question... When I turn the car on, the stereo blinks on and off constantly. If I detach the ground wire (or just disconnect the power) from the amp.. the stereo if fine. I've tried two different amps and get the same result, so I know it's not the amp. Any suggestions.

Double check the loc adaptor, it may either be faulty or have a speaker wire going to ground.Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Does the vehicle already have an amp, if so you might have connected to the signal wires for the factory amp or you have speaker wires that are grounding out.Gary Kline

Power and ground are from the deck.. the light on the amp flashes on and off with the amp. What' LOC?   Line out converter? if so, I checked the lines with a reference site here. How do I check for a factory amp? Where would that be located?

take off the front dash, look under the factory radio and its screwed in kinda upside down. It has silver heatsinks and a lot of wires going into it.dream it, build it, fiberglass it

ALSO...I've read somewhere that the ground wire should be as short as possible... how short, or should I say, what is the longest recommended?

I looked under the deck.. and there are wires from the deck going into what I believe is a factory amp... so How do I hook up an aftermarke amp now.. what are the color schemes.. do I need to tap into the speakers?  any help.. thanks

Check the only 2 wires that run for your headunit to your amp, remote wire and rca cables. look for bare wire or anything pinching the wires off.143.5 Spl
