I just recently bought a pair of 15" Pyramid Classic subwoofers off of e-bay, I also purchased a Pyramid Crystal 1600W 2CH Amplifier. I went out to my car just the other day and went to install them, I disconnected my old amplifier and reattached all the wires to their corrosponding outlets on the new amp. After that I hooked up the speakers to the amp and for some reason it just wasn't sounding right, it wasn't half as loud as I would expect from a 15's that are 600 watts a piece. Then, after all that work, I then hooked up the old amp to see what it sounded like, and too my surprise my old 760x1 380x2 Pioneer amp sounded much better, alot louder and better bass. Now, on the old amp there isn't as many knobs and switches, only LPF-HPF switch, remote, power, speaker input, ground, and RCA connections. On my newer amp there is quite a few new gizmos including a bass knob.

Now, I'm not sure if I didn't have the right combination of levels on the knobs on the new amp, the right frequencies and such. I was also wondering what gauge wire I should use for all the the connections, speaker->box and box-> amp, and if I would need a larger fuse underneath my hood since the amp is double the power output of the older one.

Here are the specifications for my amp:

800 Watts x 2 Output

1600 Watts x 1 Bridged Output
Variable Hi/Lo Electronic Crossover Network
Variable Bass Boost (0 - +18dB @ 60Hz)
Variable Input Level (Gain) Control
Remote Turn On/Off
Gold Plated RCA Inputs
High Level Molex Inputs
Power On LED Indicator

And the specifications on the speakers:

15" Blue Paper Cone Woofer

Specially Treated Black Rubber Edge Suspension

2" High Temperature Aluminum Voice Coil

100oz. Magnet Structure Weight

Frequency Response: 38-4.5khz

Sensitivity: 98Db

Impendence: 4 Ohms

how do you have the subs wired? i wouldnt run that amp at 1 ohm, i have seen many fried that way..at 4 ohm   (the 2 sub wired parallel and then bridged at the amp) the sub probably dosent put out that much power when it comes to realitl, you pioneer amp will be a much more quality amp..you cannot look at the numbers only you need to take into account the quality of equpiment..the last time I had someone try to show me up with jensen equipment i was easily able to put there 1500 watt jensen amp to shame using a 100 watt alpine,,,sorry for the somewhat bad news but others will probably concure with me on this

uhh, ya, return the amp and subs...   i bet the fuse size on your pioneer amp is bigger than your "1600" watt pyramid amp.    The only way the pyramid would be able to put out 1600 watts is if you plug it into your wall socket and feed it 120 volts....to bad you can't get 120 volts to your car battery eh? whell anywho, you were taken, , like many thousand other poor people out there.

Didn't it kinda seem odd how a company can make a 1600 watt amp for $200,,,while other companys make them for $1000??

Any who,,,see what the return policy is, and buy some reputable components, sony is a good beginning if you are on a budget.
