Hopefully one of you guys have tried these amps before and can help me. I'm trying to connect a couple of viper amps. I have a viper 5 channel amp (Model 1100.5) and i'm trying to connect it with a viper amp (model d600.1) I bought a stinger distribution block (modelSPGDPT) which distributes both the power and ground cales to both amps. I also have a stinger fused distribution block (ModelSHD2AN)in which i put a 150 amp anl fuse for my 1100.5 and a 100 anl fuse for my 600.1. So the power setup is like this( i have a 4 gauge power cable from my front battery to an audio battery i have in the back, 4 gauge cable from the second battery to the (spgdpt) which splits 1 power and 1 ground cable into 2 of each. The two ground cables 4 gauge then go directly into the amps. The two power cables then go to my fused distribution block and then to the amps. The amps have two lights a green ligh and a red light which are used to let you know if the amp is working properly. My 1100 is on green which means that it is working fine, but the 600 is on red (and according to the book red means="red is the protection led which will lightwhen the amplifier has shut itself down due to speaker short circuit,dc offset or overheating" I have all the connections done exactly how they're shown in the diagram.

The only thing i can think of is that the 4 gauge wire is to big (too much power)for the 600 and it won't accept it.

The 1100 has all of my regular speakers and 1 subwoofer connected. The 600 has the other subwoofer connected. This is how the manual said to hook it up. The 2 amps are supposed to combine amp power and drive the amps with  equal power.  Thank you to all who read through the whole thing and hopefully someone has done the same thing i'm attempting to do with these amps.

The Directed Viper series amps will show a red protection light for all the reasons you listed above, and also for under/over voltage AND for speaker reverse polarity. Try this:

First check the easy stuff.  Make sure your speakers and your power system connections are correct and not in reverse polarity.  If that is all OK, disconnet the speaker(s) from your 600.1 amp and see if it will power up with no red light.  If so, there is something wrong with your speaker setup (probably a short.)

If still in protect mode, lift the fuses in your distru block (or disconnect your battery) and swap the power lead going to the 1100 and the 600 and then power it back on.  If the problem moves to the 1100, there is something wrong in your power system (probably under voltage) and you may have a bad cable.  The gage size of the wire, by the way, would not cause this problem.   Also, you say you are trying to run them in matrix bridged mode, so make sure you have the master/slave cable installed properly.  In fact, try removing the cable and see if the problem goes away, as it may be a problem in the slave circuit.

Directed is usually pretty good about offering customer support.  You should find their 1-800 customer support phone number in the owner's manuals and you may want to give them a call.

Thanks alot for the help.I disconnected the speaker from the 600 amp and the red light still came out. I then swapped the power cables and the 1100 was still green and the 600 was still red. I also took off the master slave cable and the light was still red. Do you know of anything else i can check other or should i just call customer support.

Sounds like the amp may be bad.  Yea, I'd call customer support Monday morning.  Sorry!

my experience with these amps are that they are power hungery...they want two batterys linked in parallel providing around 14.4 volts

just a thought....
