Hey guys,

I've got a Sony 1600GSD monoblock amp and i'm getting a "offset" light every now and then. In the manual it says "Offset: lights up in red when the voltage going out to the Speaker terminal or the Pin Jack is too high. Turn off power switch. The speaker outputs are short circuited. Rectify the cause of the short circuit." Now if i just turn off the deck and turn it back on, the amp is in working condition again. This is my 1st install so i'm still feeling things out. All my connections seem to be snug and tight.

Can anyone shed some light on this situation?? I'm still confused about what offset actually is too??!?!

Make sure at the speaker connection terminal there is not a strand of wire touching on opposing terminals. This will cause a short in the amplifier and cause the Offset to turn on.

what's confusing to me is the fact that just turning the deck on and off fixes the problem, are there any other causes to trigger the offset warning?? could it have something to do w/the remote lead turn-on wire??

also, should i just check the speaker terminals.... or both ends of the speaker wire connection?
