1996 Dodge Dakota CD Install

I own a 1996 Dodge Dakota P/U and am install a Cd Player to replace the factory radio.I found a wiring diagram on this site but when i hooked up like it said i cant get a continuous feed.Also when i turn the cd player up to like 1/4th the volume it cuts out.What am i doing wrong? Please help

Continuous feed?- elaborate.  Does this mean you don't have constant power to the deck, or the sound comes and goes?  As far as the volume cutting out, first check all speaker connections to make sure they aren't shorting anywhere (either touching each other, or the connections at the speaker could be touching metal somewhere).My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

Yes i dont have a continuous power supply I.E when i turn off switch and turn back on i have to reset clock and preset stations

Did you connect the red and yellow wires to the same wire in your harness?  If so, that's the problem.  Now, did you use a wiring harness or did you just chop off the existing harness and use the info here?  It's always recommended to use a harness if possible.  Verify the wire you connected to constant (yellow in the new harness).  Set your meter to voltage (usually either 12 or 20 volts setting).  Touch the ground lead to the metal casing of the deck (as long as your antenna is plugged in, this will be a ground), or the rim of the cigarette lighter or key ring.  Touch the positive lead to the wire you connected to yellow in your new harness, and with the key off, you should have 12 volts or more.  If you not, start checking fuses, both inside the passenger compartment and under the hood.  Verify each fuse one at a time by pulling it out, visually checking, then testing for continuity with a multimeter.  If you still find nothing, you can trace the harness back with a meter until you find the problem.  Otherwise you can always tap the ignition harness.My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
