what do you reccomend for batterys...i want to get two, one for the van and one for the stereo...i assume deep cycle...i know optimas are widely used, but they are 150 each...thats a lot of loot!  im wondering if there is anything comperable to them for less money...name brand/looks doesnt matter...they will be hidden anyways...they just have to do the job...........well, that was a mouthfull!!!

have you looked into the orbital that Napa sells?  I use the 75 month batteries from napa.  They usually have more cca then their 84 month and they are about one third the cost of optimas.  The orbitals are a little more, but cheaper than optima.  I do prefer a sealed battery, but the napa legend works for me.

forget about this napa crap. you can beat an optima yellow top or a blue top up. trust me that aint alot considering what that battery does. itll take like 300 complete discharges and still work like a champ. i got a yellow top under the hood, and a group 31 blue top for my stereo and they both work excellent! make sure you get a battery isolator though or else your going to drain them and not let them work in unison like they are supposed to. if you want to see expensive batteries go to the stinger site.

Can someone tell me the difference between yellow and blue top optima batteries?  And why would u put another battery in your car for your sound system if all you are doing is straining your alternater, because now your alternater has to work twice as hard to charge two batteries?  I thought if you add another battery, you have to upgrade your alternator..
