Okay, so i really dont know a whole lot about installing stuff, but i'm trying to learn. I got a 8" bazooka bass tube a few years ago and never had it put in my car. Well i decided to try to install it finally and thought i had everything all fine and dandy....but nothing is coming out of it.     I installed it using the RCA jacks since my head unit (alpine cda-9807) has rca jacks for a sub. Is this the correct place to hook up the tube? i have the power connected to the battery, could i maybe not have a good ground connection? I am really at a loss. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance...

First you need remote wire, second yes you need ground wire . where is the bass tube being stored at? if its in the trunk wire it to the chasis.  third, before u install anything u should have ur car off, and unplug it from the battery. wen ur all done wiring, then hook it back on, wait for a while then start up ur head unit.   is there any damages on the tube?

does the bass tube already have an internal amp?

yeah, i had everything off when i hooked stuff up, and it is in the hatch area of my car. i plan on hooking up the switch that came with the tube, but it said you didnt need to, so maybe if i hook that up it will work? i'll try to find a good grounding connection somewhere...just not sure where yet.
the book says it's an amplified bass tube, that it should work without an amp....and no, there's no damage to it that i can tell, it's been in it's box in my closet for 3 years...

Ok I think I know where your problem is. You said that you are running an aftermarket headunit. You also said that your running RCA's to the built in amp on the tube. When you run your signal to your amp with RCA's you usually must run the remote wire to the amp. If you run speaker level inputs to the amp from your speaker wires off the headunit then usually the remote wire is not needed to turn the amp on and off. WIth RCA's there is no way to turn the amp on and off without the remote wire hooked up.

hey everybody, thanks for the help. i got it up and working now and am quite happy with it. it ended up being that i needed to find a better ground cuz it worked without having to wire up the switch. once it worked i got the switch up and working as well. once again, thanks for the help....i'm slowly learning!
