As I continue my search for componets, I am considering the OZ Matrix components for my convertible. I remember listening to them the first year they came out and I liked the sound. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts as to how the CS130s stack up against the Dynaudio 220MKIIs?

Convertable = loss of top end and poor off axis response for most speakers. Try to find tweeters that have a titanium dome rather than silk or poly etc. The ones that I and many others use when faces with a convertable are MB Quart. They have stellar top end thanks to the high efficiency and capabilities of the titanium dome tweeter and amazing off - axis reponse. Consider these fine speakers as well.

My original choice. However, I am running 100 watts/ channel (ZAPCO 200) and I was thinking of mounting the tweeters in the kick panels with the the midbass. Think this will overcome the top end loss?

Not really, the sound out of a tweeter is highly directional. Ideally this is the best spot as it makes a much closer pathlength for the top end, but the minute you have a passenger in the vehicle the tweeters are usually now covered. It is the best idea for a competitor but if this is not you and you want to enjoy your music then try this. My suggestion is to tape the tweeters into place in a couple of different positions and have a listen to them with the top up and down at different speeds, you will be amazed by the difference that mounting locations will make in your vehicle.

Thanks. I was planning on this. I have a door panel with a few good tweet mounting options. I was going to try a few different places to see what works best. I was also going to get rear speakers to add fill when the top is down. 75% of the time I do not have a passenger, so I wanted to try to balance SQ with usability.

Back when I installed professionally, I had some experiences with MB Quart. ;good off-axis response from the tweets but muddy mid & mid-bass. I have had Dyn's in a '92 Jeep Wrangler with the same amp. With the top off, I had no trouble with high frequencies as the tweeter was mounted in the factory dash location (forward facing), but I also had no stage when the top was up. As for mids, I had the Dyn dome mids also in the factory location and a pair of 7" drivers/channel in the floor facing up.

What I am trying to figure out is should I go the MB Quart route (QSD 213 rated 85db and expensive), Dynaudio (220MKII rated 90bd and less expensive) or some other option like Focal (also expensive) or OZ (cheapest of the bunch). On paper the OZ ranks well compared to the Dyn's and Isave about $100. Just looking for people's feedback.
