I have the premium audio system in my 01 expedition and I just got a really good deal on an Alpine cda-7995 headunit today. The only thing is I don't have an aftermarket amp yet and I am really anxious to install this headunit. Sincemy factory stereo system is run on amplifiers shouldn't they still work if I hook up the remote wire or will they still be lacking the signal coming from the headunit. As I begin to really think this out it looks more and more like a no go, but does anyone have any experience with this situation first hand? I guess I will find out in the morning when I can get ahold of a wiring harness. Just curious and anxious.

Thanks

Todd

If its the Mach audio system, I believe, that will not work. The other Ford amplified systems should "work". Its not good for the deck or the fact. amps. They are not designed to work that way and shouldn't be hooked up that way.

It can be done but why in the world would you want to do that?  Most OEM systems are pure crap compared to after-market components.  Why would you want to ruin the excellent sound quality from an Alpine HU by running the signal through a noisy factory amp and crappy factory speakers?  Also, the 4-volt outputs on teh Alpine will probably overdrive the OEM amps which usually operate on 1 to 2 volt line-level signals.  I suggest you will want to replace the factory speakers and get a good quality amp to drive them, or you have wasted your money on the CDA-7995.
