i have an audiobahn 1 farad, non didgital top cap. my problem is that when i bench charged the cap, (using the supplied resistor) as the instructions say the cap charged as predicted to a stable 14.0v

when i wnet to install part, i tested the voltage to12.4v. I am running 2 amps. audiobahn a4004t, audiobahn aw1200dq class d . powering 2-alum12q subs (dual 6 ohm @1.5OHM LOAD) PAIR 6.5 ALPINE TYPE R, PAIR 4X6 ALPINE TYPE S. along with an alpine head unit. as you can immagine i am suffering a huge power draw. would the cap help at 12.4v when the class d amp's built in volt meter reads an average of 14.0v at engine idle. (yes all functions are disturbed, flashing lights and all)

The cap won't really help much. You need a larger alternator as that's the only thing that will really do the trick.

do you think a larger cap would help? where should i look into replacing the alternator.(2002 chev. 4.8L,v8,auto,2x4) also i cant find the output rating on the stock unit, so i don't know what amperage to start with

I think that alternator is 80 amp from factory but I cant remember for sure. Luckily upgrading the atlenator in that truck is easy. You can get like 150 amp altenator that will bolt right on to the factory bracket for like 100 bucks after core charge. Thats gonna help out your blinking lights tremendously, It did on my Swift when I put in 150 amp altenator (not a direct bolt in 1.0 Farad cap -- posted image.

You can also have your alternator upgraded for around 40 bucks. I had my 100 amp alternator upgraded from a 100 amp to a 140 amp for about that much.

hey flash, how did u get that done? if i can get that done for me, that would be perfect. alot cheaper too. I looked at a stinger alt for my car, they shop wanted 600 bucks with installation.
