Hey, heard something I never heard before. What is  amodified fosgate bd1000 and bd1500. From what I have gathered, Some cap's are removed from the inside, stabalizing the respective amp for 1ohm loads?

Anyone reading these threads knows that I dont place much value on my RF amps due to the way they have treated me, but Actually getting my two bd1000's to be able to handle a 1.34 ohm load while "bridged" would make quite a diffrence to me.

I was offered two RF X6a amps from the dealer I bought the two 1000's from, but now he is telling me that 2 modified bd1500's or even three unmoded would run my (3) RF 3112 subs.

I'm uneducated on the modded rf bd series, someone please educate me.

It depends, there are a couple of ways to mod amplifiers. The way you are talking about is probably removing the protection circuitry. This in no way makes it stable at 1 ohm, just prevents the amp from shutting down because of low resistance.

"hey john, now the difference between a modified bd1500 and a regular one, is there is no protection circuitry which means you can it at .5 ohm without worrying about shutdown, and at .75 ohms this amp puts out 3200watts x1"

Thats what I got from someone I'm talking to that also modifies the 3112 cones and spyders to make the 3112's the Team RF competition version (guess the new mods + the 3112 is what the factory gives the team). Makes the 3112 a dual 1.4 ohm sub with dual spyders. "foam surroud and the cone is much lighter".

Before I even think about decreaseing my ohm load (since Im already planing to run my box at 3ohms with amps stated to not run at less than 4) I want to find out about bypassign the protection circuitry and see if I actually need to with the threee 3112 subs...

Anyonw know how to do the bypass mod?

If you get these amps modified and start running a bd at half ohm I wanna hear from you ina month or so. I would suspect that that rockford is gonna grenade in a big way. Should be a spectacular firey death, good watching. I think you guys are playing with fire when you start modifing these amps. The protection circuit is put in for a reason and by passing it to run a load well under the recomended is probally not a good Idea. If you were gonna do 1 ohm thats bad enough but half ohm is gonna be trouble. Those rockford amps heat up enough in ohm I cant imagine what its gonna do in half ohm but if you get it going I wanna hear back from you so I know how it works. Also I dont know if you are gonna get as much power as what you think, It probally isnt gonna increase that much between 1 ohm and half ohm being that it is not suposed to do that and that traditionally rockford amps dont increase a whole lot between 2 ohm to 1 ohm. but like I said keep me posted and have a fire extingisher close by when you turn it one.Modified Rockford Fosgate BD Amps -- posted image.
