I was wondering peoples opinions on the new Rockford Fosgate lineup of amps, subs and speakers. What is the quality of the make and the quality of the sound from them? Do the amps produce what they are rated at and so on. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Unfortunatly my store has yet to get them in stock so I cant give you first hand on the amps. I have the subs in stock and they are ok but I am not a fan of the plastic basket cover that is jus held on by the magnet on the back and a small metal ring on the inside of the pastic cover. They would end up in the trash when I bought them. Sound wise they are very comparable to last years with no real change, better or worse, when it comes to sound. I am a big fan of how they got rid of the stupid rubber ring and replaced it with a plastic screw down cover. The also include 12 hex bolts and the attachment for the drill to put them in. This is one of he little things that score big points with installers and make them more partial to a particular product. I have talked to people using the new, low end seres of amps and they seem to be doing well. Power wise they are what they say, and I have to admit, I really like the new look. I have yet to hear anything about the speakers yet, so I have no opinion on them yet

Yes, my store has them and they are a big improvement from their last line.  The amps are not 2 ohm stable.  The only thing I don't like about the new subs is the plastic caps that cover the magnets.  They tend to back off and rattle.  Other than that, Fosgate's new lineup isn't bad.  All of the amps come with spec sheets.

I was fiddleing around in best buy the other day checking out the P1-P3 series of subs, the guy said that they are basically just upgrades of the older models... IE P1 was the up for the PunchZ's, the P2 was the up for the HE's, and the P3 was the up for the HE2's, I played with the P2 series and I think they hit a little harder than the HE's do (I have a setup with 3 HE's) I think their new cones produce a deeper bass than the old hard paper cones of the HE's. The amps looked kool, but I've never had much luck with RF amps, my old BD1000.1 died a while ago and I haven't gone with a RF amp since so I dont keep up with them. I'm in the same department as Rave as far as speakers are concerned, I didn't event know they were releasing a line of speakers for their new line of amps and subs.

i liked the old paper cones, to me they added sort of a warmth to the sound of the bass, thus the reason for still  having an old XLC and in my daily i have an HE

I just heard the P1 series 12's at Best Buy, and I must say I was impressed. Although the box was too big for my taste, the low end bass coming out of it was what impressed me. My opinion? It sounds like a great subwoofer for it's price. (Almost made me want to trade them in for my Punch HX2's... key word, almost New Rockford Fosgate Products -- posted image.)

As far as power rating goes, the amps come with the 2006 CE ratings on the spec sheets. For those who don't know, the CE ratings are a standerdized rating system set up by Consumer electronics. Basically it shows you the true power you will recieve in real life situations. When it says 400watts, you will get 400watts. Can't say that about too many other brands

best buy always pushes too much power through the little subs to make them sound better. i bet he was powering them with the biggest freakin amp there.  thats what they do at the 2 best buy's near me, you can hear the subs bottom out half the time. haha they yell at me when i walk over and turn it down when this happens too!!

From what I remember, they were using the 500 watt Rockford Amp. Considering the size of the box, it looked a little too big for those 2 12's, so I would think the power handling went down a bit. Those speakers handle 300 watts RMS, so maybe the total handling dropped to around the 500 level. With that matchup, which I'm pretty sure they didn't intend to do, it sounded pretty damn clean, and they were definately not bottoming out. I even turned it up to see what would happen, and all I heard was pure bass.
