Does it matter where i wire it up? Before the battery, after the battery, near the amp, 12v from HU.  Does it really matter?  Because if there is a voltage drop it is throughout the entire car...correct?  Should I also install a amp meter?  Just would like to know what is going on in my system and be aware if anything wrong is happening.  thanks

Hi netboy,
You're right....it does matter where you wire it up.
If you want the general condition of the main and only battery, then connect the voltmeter and the ampmeter at the poles. Be sure to use a shunt with the ampmeter (usually provided).
If you want to know what's going on at the amplifier mounted in the trunk then that's where you connect.
Often guys will boost their alternator to charge at a higher voltage to give umph to the system and make up for voltage and current drop so it's important to know that things are kosher.
Don't neglect upgrading the OEM ground when wiring an amp.
Prepare your future. It wasn't the lack of stones that killed the stone age.
