whicheclipse subwoofer has the 127dB?

depends if ur talking sensitivity or max db on the one sub, if its sensitivity im guessing that one 15 inch titanium PRO edition

I doubt that any sub has a sensitivity that high. I havent ever seen one in car audio but I could be wrong

No doubt, sign me up, where can I buy all of them. I think that the info that was referred to in the original post was taken as a peak spl reading of insert Eclipse model# here sub. Pretty much any sub on the market is capable of hitting 125 db with relative ease.

127db sensitivity, im all for that, the best ive seen was on a cerwin vega sub 20+ years old that topped out at 109db sensitivity.

its at my dealer ship[ up here, i thought iwould ask be4 i ask them. all i kno it is a 12" eclipse subwit 127dB. cuz there was a tag wit it saying that warning you can lose ur hearing from this sub.

ANY woofer, with enough power, can go to an output level of 127dB (If only for a short period of time). It is true that all of the Eclipse woofers can go that loud, but you need to be very close to their maximum power ratings to get them there. 127dB can be PAINFULLY loud, and cause threshold shift (deafness) What? <grin> I do not think bimmer was asking about the efficiency, (how much output with one watt, at one meter) but rather the maximum output...

Ahhhhh, if only there was such a thing as 127dB efficient drivers, I'd build my entire system around them, and use 3 watt, Pure Class-A, Single-ended, output-transformerless tube amps, and put a turntable in my dash! Ummm... sorry, sometimes I do these things just for me.

127db must be the SPL rating on a speaker/amplifier installation and is fairly common.

There is NO raw loudspeaker in the world with 127db efficiency rating. I believe this approaches physical impossibility. The highest efficiency ratings I've ever tested are in the 106-110db range and were with horn-loaded tweeters. The highest efficiency woofers I've ever tested were from Ariel and were 101db. Most raw woofers that are classified as "high efficiency" are between 90 and 95db. Achieving higher outputs is accomplished through enclosure design. I have a KV2 active bass module with 2X12" drivers in a semi-horn loaded enclosure that can produce 135db with 1Kw input. And I love my Community servo-loded sub system that has been clocked in at 147db with 100 watts input and can sustain 16Hz.

Car audio loudspeakers sacrafice efficiency for power handling and ruggedness. Most car audio woofers (including Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten car audio subs) are in the 82 to 92db/watt-meter range.

You could possibly be talking about the review they did on the Eclipse 8812's back in 99' or 2000. When TN communications tested the subwoofer in the back of a corvette its max SPL was around 127 or 128. The amplifier they used to achieve this was a Crown MA5000VZ.
