You will need a line out converter.  You can catch the signal at the speakers or behind the oem radio.  There are custom shops out there that can install an aftermarket unit for you.

i'm in the same boat - just bought a 2000 rx 300 & i didn't realize how difficult adding a stereo was going to be...

i found a system diagram that suggests that my RX300 has an outboard amp, as well as a sub, although i have yet to located either one.  does anyone know if every RX has an amp, or might i be looking at the diagram of an upgrade option?

if there is a separate amp in every ride, then the signal coming from the head unit should already be at line level, right?

what's this under the carpet, beneath the rear seat?  there's a bunch of wires going to it....  hmmm...  i guess i'll wait for a response before asking how to remove the rear seat...

thanks!
