I have a PPI PC2150 running my 3 alpine S 12's. I have me wiring ran off the battery 4 gauge 150 amp fuse. It all splits of at a rockford fuse to 8 gauge. One day I had it on and it shut off so i checked it out and the plastic part on the rockford was melted. so I switched to the other side and after one day it melted too.
Anyone know how???

You probably have a short some where.  The hot is probably in contact with a ground, such as an unpainted portion on the vehicle.  Check your hot wire for any problems

What is the size of the fuse in the amplifier? From your wording above it seems that you have a 4 gauge wire running from the battery, through a big fuse (not the problem), continues on with the 4 gauge until it hits a Rockford fused distribution block? where it continues on to the amp as an 8 gauge line. The melting is at the Rockford piece correct. The amplifier is still operating is it not? What size ground wire do you have, where is it grounded to. If you have a fused distro block (now 1/2 melted) what size fuse is in it as compared to the one in the amp?

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

If your power wire fuse at the battery didn't blow, then the power is OK.  What is the plastic Rockford fuse you are talking about?  Are you running more than the PPI you described?
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

i'm presuming like others are i think that it's your fused distribution block that is melting? if so and the amps are still working then it sounds like you are drawing excessive current throught the fuse/dist block... or you got a defective one... keep in mind that AGU ( assuming you are using an AGU block ) circuits are only rated to 60 amps (although some manufacturers do make 80 amp AGU fuses )   what are the legs fused at?

you may need to step up to a beefier dist block that uses Maxi or mini ANL's that will allow for greater current draw thru the individual legs....

but hey, what do i know?

isn't a 150 amp fuse too big in case there was a short, allowing something to melt?

well depends on how much draw he is getting... we need to know wut else he has.... i assume he has another amp we do not know about unless he just likes the distro block for some reason
