I'm trying to install a new head unit in my 2001 tahoe.  After installation there is no sound. After reading a few threads here I see it is because of the Onstar system and it needs some kind of adapter. I never use onstar and it is not even subscribed to their service.  Is there a way to just completely bypass this?  Does anyone have a diagram for the other small harness that goes into the back of the stock unit?

whats up buddy? i am pretty sure that you will need to wire harness's from metra

one is the 70-1858

and the other is the 70-2006 ( i believe this is the one for the onstar )

good luck

I do not want the Onstar hooked up,  I do not use it.  There is got to be a way to do this without buying a harness. I spliced into the pink wire on the small harness and hooked it to power like I read from a post here.  The sound came on and everything worked but there was a spark popping noise coming from the factory amp so I know that is not right.  It is close though.  All I need is a diagram for the seperate small harness!

You are going to have to bypass the factory amp with 4 speaker wires. That's it. No harness. Under glove box. Not to each speaker.
