My friend had a 1000 (probably more like 200) watt Pyramid amp hooked up to two Memphis 12's.  He just bought a 200W Mosphate (i think thats what its called) amp.  He plans on running that to one sub, and the Pyramid to the other. My question is, would it be safe to run the Pyramid amp bridged to one sub. They are 250Wrms, 400W max.  I know the Pyramid is not even close to 1000W, does anyone know about how much power it puts out?

Pyramid has a lot of amps that say they run 1000 watts, can you specify which one your friend has? Also it would be in your best interest to run two alike amps which have the gain set exactly the same. Reason behind this is cancellation and Im sure some other things. If one amp is producing more power to one sub then the other is at any given moment the subs are not going to be moving at the same rate in turn not producing the same sound. I think you would be happier with one amp that can handle both subs or two of the same amps. As far as I know this information is correct. If anyone else knows differant then speak up or forever hold your pea's.

I would have to totally agree. If he will be running two seperate amps, they will get two way different sounds. There will be a difference and it WILL be noticed and can be quite anoying to hear two subs sounding so different. He needs to decide on an amp and get two of them, or one larger amp.

Go with a single mono amp to push both subs, and try to stay away from flea market brands like pyramid.
