im looking into building my own custom box for the back of my eclipse. Anyone know of a good place online to sell connectors and other parts I might need. Besides the wood of course. Also I was thinking about putting a sheet of plexiglass or Lexan in the front. Does it need to be a certain width? Or Im sure that depends on the subs and power? Also any specific wood I should use. Im looking for the lightest way possible.

Also I have seen subs that were inverted. Is there any advantage to this or is just primarily for cosmetics?

Thanks.

You can get some plexi from your local plastic dealer.

Expensive place: www.selectproducts.com

lots of odd stuff: http://www.mcmaster.com/  Check page 3314 for their polycarbonate (similar to plexiglass/lexan)

if youre looking into the lightest box possible, you might want to look into fiberglass.  about half the weight of 3/4 MDF, which is what youd want to use for wood boxes.  for plexiglass, id say at least 3/8" thick.  i used some 1/4" stuff once and it cracked all to hell from the constant flexing.  also, you have to go really slow when drilling and cutting that stuff or itll crack.  as far as inverted subs, purely cosmetic.  no real performance benfits to this.  anyways, if you want to look into fg, unless you already know how to do it, check out this link.  http://www.e-kittan.com/fibre.html gl, and have fun=)

Outstanding selection of materials, low prices, fast shipments at actual cost.  Got my Dynamat equivalent from them.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
