I want to be able to listen to my MP3 through my car speakers.Im using one of those cassette adapters at the moment -dont like, is there  some way to connect the mp3 to the head unit- its a cd compatible ford 5000 radio. i figure that if i can plug a cd changer into it, i should be able to plug in the MP3.

If your HU doesn't have an AUX input, you can use a FM Modulator.
Do it right the first time

My HU dosent have a AUX input , but since its cd compatible ,can i not utilise the pins on the back of the hu to gain an AUx in. I know i could get an FM mod. but  why go this route if i can make a direct connection

If the HU doesn't have an AUX, you use FM mod, as raydawg advised.  If you think about mp3 for a moment...you will not need anything more than FM to appreciate it to its fullest.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Why go out and pay 30 - 40 quid for an FM mod if i can i can get what im looking for with a bit of bodge. Don't get me wrong i.m not a meaner, but i know there has to be a way. Isn't that what Forums are for. If there wasn't a way i would take rawdawgs' advice and get a FM mod, but since there is...
