A mate of mine has recently purchased an Apline SWS-1241D. He is not too happy with the results he is getting from it. I have suggested to him to look into a different enclosure size. The current box he has is roughly 1cb/ft sealed.
Was just wondering in everyone else's experiences what that have found to be a good enclosure for a mix of SQ/SPL. I think he would be looking to more SPL. HE just doesn't want to have a huge box. I was thinking maybe around 1.5/1.7ish. Is looking to only run a sealed box.
Thanks guys

more info would help, like whut amp is he using(power), whut vehicle it's in, list of equipment being used. I made tons of boxes for that sub and the best I've heard are either 1.00 cu. ft. sealed with a CLEAN 400 watts rms, or a 1.92 cu. ft. vented with the same power. Both enclosures sound very good, but if is looking for more output a vented enclosure is a must.

i built a box for one the other day, it was 1.3 cube's and the sub was inverted.  Its the best sounding box i have made so far for that sub.   Seems both the type-R and Type-S 12" subs like 1.3 cube's best.

He's running an MRD-M300. So a little over 300rms. Tis only in a small Corolla Hatchback. Ok so we have a suggestion of 1.3thus far!

My suggestion would be a bigger amp.  That amp is much too little power for that sub.  Although the enclosure may also be part of the problem.

I read that wrong, I thought it was a Type R sub not a type S.  Amp should be cool... sorry about that.
