Ok guys. My moms 1990 dodge grand caravan i got a cd player for her. Now the problems. About a year ago her factory radio went out, the lights, the sounds, the clock. Around the same time her cruise control went out. I checked all the fuses and nothing. They were all good. So now I am wondering what else could it be. I am going to try and install this cd player tomorrow. Hopefully I won't have to run new power wires.

Thanks

Bryan

There will be a bundle of fusible links by the drivers side strut tower, usually to the front of the tower but possibly as far back as the brake master (year dependant, sorry I don't have my manuals at home, they are at the shop). It is common for this bundle to be in a huge piece of conduit which you may have to open up to find them. They had issues eating up the fusible links in there due to corrosion of the battery cables.
I suggest putting new terminal ends on the cables (as I am sure they are corroded) after soaking the cables in a baking soda/water mix ( 2 Tbsp soda/8 Oz of water) untill it stops bubbleing. The reason I suggest reterminating the cables is because the cables cannot be replaced by themselves. In order to replace the cables you need to replace the entire engine wiring harness.
Then, tug on the links when you find them, untill you feel one that is soft or falls apart in your hand (there may be a black hole in it, or no insulation on it). Replace it with the correct fuseable link which should be SOLDERED into place.
