alright...i have a rockford fosgate 400S amp, with two MA 12d6 subs. i already have them hooked up to series/parallel to the amp. but i was wanting to make a ported box for a single 12" sub. and i was wondering if i could hook the amp up so that it is like this? another amp/sub wiring Q -- posted image.

I just don't get the question. Are you adding an additional sub, sub and amp, or redesigning boxes for the two existing ones? And what does that diagram represent?

Doesn't make sense? How do you have the two subs hooked up in series/parallel? They are two different wiring schemes.

To answer what looks like your question, in order to hook the one sub up like that, you'd need a dual voice coil sub. I don't even know if that answers your question, not too clear on it.

bayarea, series/parallel means that the dual voice coils on each sub are wired in series, and then the two subs are parallel-wired to each other.

If you want to wire voice coils to separate channels, don't do it. Wire the coils together on a speaker. If you have a configuration which you feel is not getting enough power from the amp, then either the amp or the speakers should be switched out so that you end up with the right combination. Post some more specific info if this doesn't answer some or all of your question.

If you have two dvc 4 ohm subs and want to wire them to this amp, here is how to do it.

Wiring Option #2

Now by the looks of the first post it seems that you want to only run one sub in a ported box and your drawing shows that each voice coil of this one sub is going to each channel of the amp. It can be done but it is not recommended. You sort of left us wondering here dude as to your real question.

whoops sorry. haha.....ok...i ALREADY have 2 12" MA audio DVC 6ohm subs. i was wanting to make a box that is slot ported for a single 12", my amp does 4§Ù Load Per Channel 100 Watts x 2 2§Ù Load Per Channel 200 Watts x 2 4§Ù Load Bridged (Mono) 400 Watts x 1. but i cant wire my subs up to 3ohm ohm load (series/parallel) cause the amp cant handle it on mono. and if i do wire it on mono, it''ll be 12ohms (parallel). these subs are fubar, why would they make a 6ohm sub its rediculous.

2 DVC 6 ohm subs wired series (12 + 12), then parallel would be a 6 ohm load. The amp will take a 6 ohm load bridged, which is equal to 3 ohm stereo. Or is it getting too late for me, and I'm missing something?
