Hi everyone, I was wondering if I found a deal today. It is a ma audio 12 xl. 600w rms. I was told that they can be compared to the JL w7 (close) That is just hard for me to believe. Price is less than 150.  Any other good speakers in this price range?

Umm.... NO. MA Audio is a good entry level brand but none of their subwoofes (or anything else they make) will come close to something made by JL (unless you are going for all out spl, then its not really a fair comparison anyways because the JL Audio W7 is not the baddest SPL sub on the block).

Are MA audio subs a good buy for entry level subs though? I was thinking about getting some myself.

for less than $150 any high brand name is good... the best sub i've heard from MA is the dxi.. now I am no MA expert by far but it hit very decent for the price.. I wouldn't put a whole lot of wattage to it make sure you look into that before you hook up any amp.. Hope it all works out for ya

whoa whoa whoa, as an ex MA Audio owner, i totally disagree with you suburb. MA Audio makes some sweet ass equipment. I used to own the D6 series subs, and they hit better than all my friends subs. Except for my buddy with diamonds, but thats another story. As for the power? they love it. The 12" XL is no different. MA has 6 types of subs, for all sorts of applications, the Kore Series is top of the line, meant for pure SPL, The XL series is next in line. Although people on here have their heads up their asses about JL products, I've owned both, and i'll tell ya, MA's are damn good, and even better prices.

So Ma or Infinity, the infinity has a higher spl. (on Paper)
