hey, I'm redoing my system to have two 1000 watt pioneer amps and a 400 watt 4 channel amp. I have stock battery and alternator. now the question. Can I get away with just adding a dry cell or should I change to a high output alternator as well? before this I was running two 760 amps and a 375 4 channel and the car seemed ok.
Thank you
Korie

A 1000 watt amp sometimes is no more power-hungry than a 760 watt amp.  Depends on ratings, manufacturer's placement on their product line, different manufacturers altogether, etc. etc.  If you are not going to increase the load on these amps, then you might not take more power from the car to run them.  That is, if you are upgrading to cleaner sound, but playing at the same volume, with the same speakers.  In some cases, you can increase the amp power and draw less from the car at the same time...switching from a class A/B amp to a class D amp for subs.  The D runs on about 40% less power for the same output.

I agree with Ketel, as I usually do, but I would put the system together and see how it all works first.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

like i said, if he already has a h/o alt. he should be fine. but on a stock alt. running three amps all high powered usually wont turn out good for the alt.. (not ment as arguement just reinforcement)

if you buy one "designed" for your car with all the correct brackets you may need it should just be unbolting the old and bolting on the new, and putting a belt on.
