I don't think that the items that are now produced with the orion name from DEI are as good as the old orion products, but thats just my opinion, what matters is that they sound great to you  =)

As far as I know DEI owns the company and distributes the line but the engineering is still very much the brains of the design team they have had for years. I know that the internals of the amps are extremly similar as they were 4 or 5 years ago with many of the parts still being the same. I have heard the new stuff and am impressed with it. The only thing that I dont like so much is their inability to go down to lower ohm loads. As far as the subs go, orion has always beena company where most people either lovem or hate em because they are a unique sound. Box quality is pretty crutial with orion drivers so dont cheap out on the box and by prefab because you wont be happy but the drivers are still quite good as far as Im concerened

call me old school, but i still love (and think the best ever) were my XTR Series 1's..... powered by an old 225 HCCA.... that was the killer combo back in the day.  Orion has kinda fallen off recently.  But if you ever see any Series 1 or Series 2 subs and amps on ebay, pick those up.
