My friend is thinking of getting either two JL 10w7's or two 12w7's and he is wondering what he will need. Will he be okay with one battery and will he be okay with one high powered amp or should he go with two amps. And will regular dynamat help the radling from the w7's. He has a 2005 chrysler 300m. Thanks

What do you need to go with 2 12W7's? Earplugs. :)

One battery is all anyone needs unless you are building a system designed for operating with the engine off. An alternator is what supplies the power in a running car. The load on the alternator depends on the amplifier, not the speakers. What amp are you planning to use and how large is the alternator in the new 300?

I'm running 1800 RMS WATTS to two subs right now, and 300 more RMS watts to 4 speakers off a stock alternator (about 80 amps or so), with no caps.

If you listen to everything at "decent" levels, usually no louder than a stock setup would go, then you should be able to get away with no modifications (although a cap or two to keep some consistency present would help)

Depending on how you wire the subs should be taken into consideration for the amp too...... In the trunk of a car,in the summer, an amp wired down to 1ohm isn't very effective (mine likes to take little safety breaks every few subwoofer hits, just because of the heat (at least I hope!!!)

so maybe depending on how many voice coils each W7 has (I'm no JL Audio Expert) he may want to consider 2 amps, which will cost more for materials, like wires and distrobution blocks, but it's not going to heat up as quickly as an amp running 2 woofers at 1 ohm......... AHHHH THE COMPLICATIONS AND TRADEOFFS!
