I just installed my Pioneer head unit in my 86 camaro but i have no idea where to put the illumination and dimmer wires that were attached to the old stereo. I am completely new to this and any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

On a lot of older cars, the stock decks didn't require those wires, so you have to just tap into others. The dimmer wire usually taps into your dash light switch, (so that when you dim your dash lights, the deck dims with them). This wire is not necessary. The illumination wire can either be tapped into the accessory in your ignition harness under the stearing column or most people tap the cig lighter as that usually turns on with the accessory also.

If your Pioneer radio has an illumination wire connect it to the grey wire for the car's dash illumination. It will facilitate the dimming of any lamps inside your Pioneer radio. If it doesn't have any illumination wire DON'T hook it to any other wires. Tape the wires up so they don't short circuit and blow a fuse.
