I installed a handsfree kit in my prior vehicle. It was pretty simple since the owners manual had the instructions and where the aux power harness was and what the colors were for.

I just purchased a new 2004 Envoy XUV and want to install the handsfree unit. It is a Samsung kit with a black, brown, yellow and a red wire. I can not find my install manual for the handsfree kit and can not remember what is what. I know the black is ground. I would assume the red is constant 12v, yellow is ignition turn on. Brown maybe mute feature which I did not use before. Can someone direct me the best palce to make these connections and correct my assumptions if I am wrong.

Also I would love to know if it is possible to connect (I heard rumor) to the XM connection into the Bose Navigation head unit for the mute feature. I heard you could wire to this and phone call would come on the Nav screen while muting the stereo. This would be awesome.

Normally the wires are like so:

Black = Ground

Yellow = Constant

Red = Ignition

Unfortunately not all units confirm to these standard colors, so it's possible your red is constant and the yellow is ignition. In your case, you won't find an ignition wire at the back of the radio, so you might want to go directly to the ignition switch. In that case, you would tap the thick red wire (constant) and the thick orange or brown wire (accessory). Brown I would also assume is for mute, but I doubt you'll be able to put it to much use.

Sorry but I have no idea of the abilities to interface with the nav screen for muting the stereo.
