Does anyone own a Panasonic head unit or had any experience with that brand, good or bad.

Bad here.  Sent two back a few years ago until I changed to a clarion.  The clarion then worked for years.  I personally wouldn't order one unless I knew the dealer would take it back!

Have sold Panasonic cd players for over 12 years and they have been a great cd player. Do they fail more or less than any other brand, no they do not.

the make a fairly good product.... they had some bugs with the product about 5 years ago but seemed to correct those problems in the following years models ( funny how that works ).... as a consumer it would be a brand i'd certainly be willing to take a look at and a listen to....

I had a CQDP103 in my old cargo van for a while and loved it. The only reason I don't have it anymore is because it was stolen out of the van.

nope   although i certainly saw lots of them.... i was referring to the "discs dont play once the unit heated up" problem...they left a AVR regulator standing on the motherboard by itself and it overheated and went out of tolerence...the following year they piggy backed that V reg onto the O/P stage heatsink and the problem was solved... although it annoyed the heck out of all the people who bought the earlier model... and they never came out with a counter measure for these customers at all... i used to buy a heatsink kit from ECG and heatsink all of these myself to make sure they didnt come back a second time.....

we see very few problems with the current line up....
