I've heard, and read how this amp used to be good before they were sold to that company etc.  So my question is what amps are still as good as they "were" before companies were sold, or they sent the items off to be built somewhere else?  Example, I had a PPI power class amp that was great.  I was recently told by a shop where I live that the new PPI DCX amps weren't as good and he wasn't going to get them anymore blah blah.  So what amps are still just as good as they used to be, or what new companies are better than some of the old standby's?

I always hear diamond, memphis, zapco, mccintosh, eclipse, audison, xtant, and linear power mentioned as high quality amps.  I'm sure I'm leaving some big names out and some new good names as well.

You cant go wrong with a JBL, amp, although the lower end models lack some features found on similar priced amps.  Also, JL audio, kicker, rockford fosgate, crossfire, hifonics,MMATS and orion all make quality amps.

rockford amps have definatly went down in quality. The only amps I can think of that are still as good as the old ones are audison, MMatts, Zappco, McInstoch and probally eclipse. Other wise just about everything else has went down hill. The new Kicker stuff is nice but they still have nothin on the old xs50 and xs100 amps. A Rockford 500.2 now is nothing compared to the older chrome 500a2. Now with that said you have to remember that equipment prices have come down as well. Or at least have come down when you consider inflation into the whole scheme of things.
