My son is installing a system in his 1982 Dodge Rampage (2 seat pickup / car)The vehicle has a small cabin. He has a Sony CDX F7700 HU, 2 Rockford Fosgate P18S4 8" subs (sealed wedge box), and a pair of 4X6 audiobahns to replace front factory speakers. Most everything was given to him (new) but he needs an amp to drive it. We were looking at the following: Rockford Fosgate Power 550S or the Rockford Fosgate Punch 500.2
We are new to this so any recommendatoins on what amps to purchase and the best way to wire this system would be appreciated. We have found these amps for around $200-$300 online (carstereo online, etronics, etc)
Thanks for any help.

I'd buy a small class D amplifier for the subs.  http://www.cardomain.com/item/ROCP3001  will be perfect if you're set on staying with Rockford.  I'm not familiar with the two amps you were considering.  cardomain also has a wiring guide for your subs.

If he wants to amp the front and rear speakers, pick up a 2 or 4 channel amp @ 50x2.

This would kill both birds w/ one stone:  http://www.cardomain.com/item/XTA403A   3 channel amp.  50x2 for the new audiobahns and 200x1 @ 2ohms for the subs.
